Packed with the power to handle the small- to medium-sized business NAS environments and increased workloads1 for SOHO customers, WD Red Plus is ideal for archiving and sharing, as well as RAID array rebuilding on systems using ZFS and other file systems. WD Red Plus NAS WD101EFBX 10TB hard drive ensures a lower power consumption and a suitable error correction.
Built and tested for up to 8-bay NAS systems, these drives give you flexibility, versatility, and confidence in storing and sharing your sweet home and work files. Looking at our 4k random performance, the WD Red WD101EFBX 10TB hit 571 IOPS write and 314 IOPS read in CIFS and 580 IOPS write, and 575 IOPS read in iSCSI. The WD 10TB had better write performance than the Seagate IronWolf in both configurations but was slower than the Toshiba N300. For reads, the WD ran close to the Toshiba, though the Seagate’s iSCSI performance was the best overall at 637 IOPS.

Unlike desktop drives, these 3.5” HDDs are specifically tested for compatibility with NAS systems for optimum performance.
The always-on environment of a NAS or RAID is a hot one, and desktop drives aren’t typically designed and tested under those conditions like WD Red Plus drives are.
Error Recovery Controls:
WD Red Plus NAS hard drives are specifically designed with RAID error recovery control to help reduce failures within the NAS system.
Noise and Vibration Protection:
Designed to operate solo, desktop drives typically offer little or no protection from the noise and vibration present in a multi-drive system. WD Red™ Plus drives are designed to thrive in multi-bay NAS system environments.
